The objectives of this program are to teach the basics of respiratory anatomy and physiology and how occupational and environmental exposures affect the respiratory system. Participants will learn the proper techniques for obtaining valid spirometric values, as defined by NIOSH, including instrumentation and the basis for spirometric measurement, mechanics of data collection, reduction of data in accordance with the acceptability criteria, and the use of predicted values.
Our practicum instructors have extensive practical experience in spirometry testing to help participants learn proper testing procedures. No prior training in pulmonary function testing is required.
NIOSH APPROVED 2-DAY SPIROMETRY COURSE
For primary care practitioners, internists, allergists, pulmonologists, occupational medicine physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and their office technical staff who are, or may be, conducting spirometry.
Our practicum instructors have extensive practical experience in spirometry testing to help participants learn proper testing procedures. No prior training in pulmonary function testing is required. Please bring a calculator to class. If possible, please bring a print-out or tracing from your spirometer to use as a comparison during this course.
Continental breakfast and lunch is included with the course cost.
