Cortney Alleyne is a graduate assistant for the Black Lung Clinics Program. She has Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Urban Planning from the University Of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, Florida.  During her undergraduate studies, Cortney worked as a program coordinator for the Student Support Services Program at USF and she volunteered as a research assistant with the Assessing the Burden of Chronic Diseases of the Uninsured of Tampa Bay (ABCD) Project. She also participated in a service-learning project located in Ghana, Africa during the summer of 2017. Cortney created and implemented public health seminars at a rural orphanage in Bawjiase, Ghana.

 

Cortney is a MPH student in the division of Community Health Sciences at the UIC School of Public Health. She is pursuing her MPH with a focus on global health and health equity for sickle cell disease. In addition to work with the Black Lung Clinics Program, Cortney is involved across campus as an intern with the UI Sickle Cell Center and a participant in the Public Health Leadership Program.
